Technical Assistance
Introduction
What is TA?
Swedfund’s funds for technical assistance (TA) is a strategic grant tool that is used for quality-enhancing initiatives to strengthen the performance of our portfolio companies in line with our mission and goals. The funds will mainly be used to strengthen the companies' work on development impact, gender equality and sustainability, including the environment and climate, decent work and business ethics, and anti-corruption. This can be done for example through training programs, development of management systems or new processes and tools.
Who can apply for financing?
Swedfund’s potential, current and completed investments can benefit from TA funds. In specific cases the funding can also be used to benefit several companies and communities in collaboration with strategic partners, like civil society or industry organisations.
Value for participating companies
TA projects are value-creating initiatives aimed at strengthening and systematising portfolio companies’ competence, capacity and operations to:
- Manage sustainability risk and opportunities
- Enhance a positive impact generation
- Prevent and mitigate adverse human rights risks and impacts
- Improve gender equality and women’s economic empowerment
- Become more environmentally sustainable, reduce climate impacts and risks, and leverage climate-related opportunities
- Improve working conditions on workplaces
- Manage business integrity risks and opportunities
- Support the digital transformation
Financial scope
The maximum budget for each TA project is SEK 2 million.
Projects that cannot receive TA-funds
Projects funding activities that are part of a portfolio company's ongoing operations, such as replacing old equipment or employing key competencies, or part of Swedfund’s ongoing portfolio management, such as funding standard ESG training for fund managers, are not eligible for TA funding.
Women4Growth
In 2014 Swedfund initiated Women4Growth, a programme that can help unleash opportunities for all employees in a workplace and tap into the existing talent in an organisation. Read more about Women4Growth
